During the festival week, the center of the sehsüchte competition will be the Thalia Repertory Cinemas in Potsdam-Babelsberg. Two of the cinemas will show the nominated films. This is also where the festival's opening celebrations will take place and the sehsüchte flames will be awarded to the winners at the end of the festival week.

The movie house came into existence in the 1930s, and has established itself over many years as Potsdam’s premiere cinema. After a year of renovation, it was reopened in 1997 in its current form as a comfortable arthouse cinema with four rooms and a total of 709 seats, such that Screening Room 1 maintained its old proportions and was extensively restored. The architectural highlight is the large glass ceiling over the foyer and an outdated, restored film projector, which – after its get dark – will project short films and film clips on the foyer wall.

In the HFF, sehsüchte’s heart is beating. Here at the renowned film school, you’ll not only find the festival office, but also the fitting celebration of the festival’s anniversary. With the large sehsüchte opening party in the atrium of the Hochschule, the festival week will begin. After the award ceremony, the winners, filmmakers and guests can celebrate the closing of the festival in the same location. Following the opening at the Thalia cinemas, we will celebrate the beginning of the festival week. The sehsüchte party on Saturday evening will initiate the grande finale: the last festival day.
